Inevitable

You call me and I cannot pretend
to not miss how my skin just went
from feeling warm to sweaty cold,
can you tell I’ve been waiting for this call?
I read your words and am bewitched,
the millionth time— the one last bit
I thought you’ve forgotten it at all,
there are some things we’ve left untold.
You call me and I cannot pretend
to not know why you did again
for I know it all too well, my Love
like I’ve known you forever,
written with permanent ink
in the backs of our mind
we’ll call again a million times,
and I don’t know why but I’ll pick up
to hear your voice in endless delight.
You called me and I knew you would,
cause if not I‘d be the one to do it for good,
had I known that things will turn out this way
I wouldn’t have asked you to stay
for this wasn’t what I was hoping for
I’m sorry I picked up the beckoning call,
with it comes our inevitable fall,
I wish you never called at all.
